No Paul, it is very difficult in The Netherlands to get a male.
I have two females.

Once again, nice pictures of one of my favourite turtle species.
Have you read the Chariming book about these in their native North American habitat: The year of the Turtle by David Carroll?

No Paul, I did not know of this book.
I do have the book of Al Roach about the spotted turtle.
However i am going to look for it on the world wide web.

If you go onto the PARC website; 2011 year of the Turtle, there is a nice little video of David Carroll reading a section of the book: Thoroughly recommended! He is a great naturalist and wildlfe Artist.

That's the one. Having visited the North States of the USA and witnessed Emergence of these Turtles from Hibernation, he captures the event with great clarity and charm. Utterly magical experience!!! :)

I have received the book a few weeks ago. Another week to go for my work but then I have holiday so I can begin to read it.
