Hibernation after worm treatment

Postby KJJames » Sat Dec 07, 2019 6:51 pm

I have an elderly (100 years plus) male Hermanns. He was prepared for hibernation this year but just at the last minute in the middle of November I realised he had round worms. The vet gave a dose of Panacur and advised he should be kept awake until the treatment took effect. I have been keeping him under a heat lamp and uv light and he has been eating well. Analysis of faecal sample thus week shows he is now worm- free. Is it ok for me now to withdraw feeding, keep him at a temperature of around 10degrees and hibernate him in about 4 weeks time for the remainder of the winter or should I keep him awake this year and miss hibernation?
