Juvenile Hermann's Tortoise (Chapman) (Newquay, Cornwall)

Postby Nadine Highfield » Fri Aug 19, 2016 10:00 am

This lovely young Hermann's tortoise was given as an (unexpected) gift to someone who, due to having to help care for elderly parents 300 miles away, was not in a position to take on the care of a tortoise. At first, some family members in the area took the tortoise while she was gone, but they have now moved and she has no one to care for this tortoise when she is away from home. She now needs to rehome this tortoise urgently, and wishes it to be with someone who will provide the care, diet and facilities that it requires to remain happy and healthy.

The owner has excellent indoor and outdoor environments for the tortoise, and it has been reared on a diet of wild weeds and flowers (grown from T-lady wild tortoise plant seeds) and supplemented with a variety of suitable salad leaves. UV-B and basking lights as well as supplements have been provided and the tortoises is in very good health.

The tortoise is currently 12 cms long (carapace length) and weighs 160 grams. It is very likely a female, but at this size one cannot be absolutely sure.

If you can offer this young tortoise a home, please email an application and photos of your facilities to Nadine at TortoiseTrustRehoming@gmail.com with "Juvenile Hermann's Tortoise (Chapman) (Newquay, Cornwall)" as the subject.
