Holiday care

Postby amelia1730 » Thu Mar 23, 2017 3:25 pm

Desperate to find holiday care for my Hermanns in June. We are in Cambridgeshire but willing to travel. I have no friends or family close by and neighbours unsuitable (don't ask!). My Mil usually helps but she's coming away with us.Yes, I know, bad move!!
Any suggestions please?
Thank you

Hi Ali
Sorry, only just seen your post. Been ill.

Horace is a male Hermanns. Approx 60 yrs old according to vet so fully grown but not huge as you can imagine being a Hermanns!
He 's quite a character. :D
I have searched for specialist boarding but not found anything.

Depending on dates, I am happy to help. I am in Leicestershire.

Sorry for delay also, I haven't logged in for a while!

Hi Amelia

I have a hermanns too and know how difficult it can be when you are not home to find cover. It is not like having a dog which can go into doggy kennels. Plus tortoises don't travel light!

I found help by contacting a local vet. They often have a list of people who advertise as pet carers some of which are prepared to house sit while you are away and look after your loved ones. It may be worth a try and then you can see if you like any of them.
