In fact, we are having the first training day there on Monday with local volunteers... so things are moving!

Training day went well. Taught two sessions this time, one on the evolutionary biology and physiology of tortoises the other on life cycles in the natural habitat. We ended up in a rather 'posh' venue (the local government's full council chamber!) as it was rather too hot in the tortoise centre. We have an excellent group of helpers and will be continuing training in the coming weeks and months. Very, very hot and dry here right now - had several wildfires already. Fortunately, extinguished very efficiently. They 'water bomb' them with helicopters and aircraft...
