A Cupulatta. Ajaccio

Postby AliTBimbo » Thu Aug 03, 2017 7:37 am

Good morning

I'm currently on board the Crown Princess with hubby and parents. Today we're docking at Ajaccio and hubby and I have excursion booked to A Cupulatta tortoise and turtle sanctuary - I will take lots of pics, photobucket isn't playing at the moment so may post a link to my instagram or Twitter.... I absolutely cannot wait, a highlight for me this cruise :)
Regards,

Ali

Am home!
Need to upload to PC and then find suitable platform for sharing on here. May have to upgrade photo bucket! It was approximately 35+ C on the day so many torts were hiding in shade - will share what I have though - look forward to updating :)

Ali

Photos are currently uploading to Photobucket in a public album. I'm waiting for hubby to download from his iphone too as my camera kept overheating!

We didn't have time to do the official tour with the guide but saw lots. They have a breeding programme going on, lots of eggs in vermiculite tubs in incubators, they have a quarantine period for introducing newbies. A lot of people walked past the little ones thinking nothing in there - some really beautiful babies under a sprinkler mist in their meshed over enclosure. I did think that there were an awful lot of turtles per pond, and lots of little ones in there too, I don't know how overcrowding works with them.

I saw lots of lettuce / fruit and no sign of any chalk or calcium but the little ones looked smooth and healthy enough on the outside.

I would love to revisit on a cooler day and see more of the med species. But thoroughly enjoyed it.
Regards,

Ali
