Lighting Enquiry

Postby Jessyuk » Thu Apr 16, 2009 11:01 am

Hello

I was just wondering what your opionions were about the Exo Terra Solar Glo Sun Simulating Lamp. The Exo Terra website seem to indicate it's the best thing since sliced bread, but then they're the ones trying to sell it so I thought I'd see if any of you had any experience with them and what you thought.

Many thanks

Jess

Jess

I have used Powersun and now use Megaray so I am not able to comment on Exo Terra - however if you contact Darren at Kimbos Reptile world he will be able to advise you on the best set up - lighting/heating ect.

Just finished testing the 160w after 15 days of use the UVB had dropped by 50%

New 102 uW/cm2 @12"

after, 182 hours (15 days at 12 hours per day) 53 uW/cm2 @12"

The mega ray is guaranteed to put out 80 uW/cm2 @ 12" at the end of the 6 month warranty period, only bulb in the world that includes a guaranteed output - the rest only guarantee against failure

Here is the most popular bulb for tortoises:

I am totally bias but the Megaray are the best Mercury Vapour Bulbs in the world.

The only bulb that is Hand Made, and each and every bulb is Production line tested to ensure it meets with our strict specifications, no other bulb in the world can match it.

For what type of turtle, sorry. That might help me give my little old opinion.
