Postby Craigb302 » Thu Sep 08, 2016 9:53 am

Hi, newbie here I recently took two tortoises and rehomed them i was told they where horsefield tortoises approximately 5 years old i was just wondering if the species is correct ? Any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Not horsfields. They look just like some of mine - hermanns tortoises. Could be as old as you were told. 4 or maybe 5.

Have a look on the main TT website http://www.tortoisetrust.org/ for species descriptions, pictures, and excellent husbandry advice.

I agree with Stuart, hermans all the way:0)
They should have paperwork which should give an idea of age:0)

A very good point, Sandy!
They should have paperwork. Let's hope they do, and that it is accurate and trustworthy.

Hi yeah I managed to get the paperwork as i only rehomemed them from my dad due to a divorce etc. The downside though is they where originally purchased from carlisle tortoises which when I googled it i got quite a surprise as to what I found about the business.
