Eastern Hermann's Age

Postby Buffy123 » Mon Sep 19, 2016 9:12 pm

Hello,
I just acquired an Eastern Hermann's at 4 inches, but I don't know the age. Could someone give me an estimated guess?
Thanks from a new member,

Ha. Brilliant question!
Going by my own hatchlings, I'd guess at maybe four or five years old?
But it could be younger and have been grown faster. Or possibly older and be growing very slowly. :)

More details of its background, the way it's been kept so far, whether or not hibernated (because if not, then it will have had an extra couple of months at least to have been fed more than a hibernated tortoise) would all help. A photograph would be very useful.

Edit: you say "acquired" ... was no paperwork involved? Importation documents usually include an approximate age. Or was it perhaps bred in the UK? (Even so, there ought to be paperwork)

There was no paperwork, I got the tortoise from a pet store in Buffalo, NY. They said the tortoise came from Reptile Industries based in Florida. I'll ask for papers, but I doubt it will be easy. Thanks for your help.

There will be no papers in the US.

Not required there.

Please excuse my UKcentricity!
I forgot that TT forum membership is international!
