New Tortoise Trust Guide book now available

Postby Tortoise Trust » Wed Dec 04, 2013 9:16 am

The new, 4th Edition of The Tortoise Trust Guide to Tortoises & Turtles is now available for instant download in Kindle format at all regional http://www.amazon.com stores. The UK link is here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tortoise-Trust- ... ust+guide#

You can also obtain at Amazon.com, Amazon.es, Amazon.de and Amazon.au stores, etc.

You do not have to own a Kindle to read (though it certainly looks very nice on the new Kindle HD's), but can download a reader for PC, Mac, iPad and Android devices. The new edition has quite a lot of full colour images, but is still very readable on Kindle Paperwhite and older mono readers.

Here's a link to the official reader software for various formats:

The new edition takes account of some of the recent research we have been doing on housing, lighting, diet, disease prevention, rescue and rehab, and behaviour. The text was last updated in 2004, so quite a bit has changed. One other thing that has changed is that it was £9.99 in 2004, but now it is £5.99! There's also quite a lot more of it....

This is very much an extension and 'follow on' of the very basic, 'beginner' level book we did in 2009:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Keeping-Pet-Tor ... 769&sr=1-1

That really is 'beginner' level, where I'd describe the 'Tortoise Trust Guide' as 'intermediate' level. Both are certainly good places to start and if you are unsure of the basic techniques of tortoise husbandry, they will set you on the right path. The new edition of the 'Tortoise Trust Guide to Tortoises & Turtles' also includes some frequently asked questions in each section (there are nine chapters), and quite a bit on how to create and use good looking, but environmentally suitable enclosures, for both tortoises and turtles.

We hope you find it useful!

There is no print edition just yet, but that should be available in the Spring of 2014. The Kindle edition does offer quite a few advantages, however, particularly the ability to change the text size to suit your eyesight!

Hi Graham,

It is tricky getting a balance for a text at a 'general' audience (vs specialists and experienced keepers) but hopefully, we have produced something useful.

As you said anyone one who can access the forum can now download this book onto their laptop / computer or palmtop. you don't need to use a kindle.

Very informative and ideal for lots of the questions usually asked.

Well Done. ;)
