IMPORTANT - TORTOISES NEED YOUR HELP NOW

Postby Tortoise Trust » Thu Oct 15, 2015 6:17 am

The full story of this is quite horrifying.

We need to put pressure on the authorities NOW to change course and listen to the advice they are being given by experts in animal welfare and tortoise conservation. How can it possibly be that NINE OUT OF TEN tortoises delivered to a so-called 'rescue centre' end up dead? Most, it appears, DELIBERATELY KILLED!!!

You can read my own letter on the subject here:

http://www.tortoisetrust.es/downloads/Rescue%20Centre%20Ethics%20Web.pdf

This is outrageous and it needs to stop. YOU can help to stop it by signing this petition and by sharing it everywhere you can on Facebook, Twitter, on all tortoise groups and forums and on similar media. Numbers are important. Publicity is important.

We cannot allow this to continue.

Here is a direct link to the petition:

http://chn.ge/1NddVL2

It is written in several languages. Please help. Your signature really can make a difference. Signatures from around the world really put the pressure on.

I am totally supporting ACUDE (an excellent, sensible and well managed conservation organisation) in their alternative proposals to change the way this issue is dealt with. If you read Spanish (if not paste into Chrome with auto translate) here is another link to an article in one of the region's largest newspapers:

Get to work, and make a difference!

Thanks... we need the signatures...

People sometimes think that it never helps or makes a difference, but really, it often does.

Makes me feel really sick at the thought of this mindless activity. Signed and passed to my clam.
Making a wild Hermann as happy as possible after he was captured wrongfully from his home country in the 60s and later found crossing a road here in the South East of England.

Andy & rest of Tortoise Trust Group. Horrific events! I have actually 'shared' a lot via Facebook, having both my OWN a/c & my favourite's : Tina Glover :) (a refreshing change too, admittedly, to find several other people holding the TT 'in high regard' :!: :!: ) I have also TWEETED - it's gone 'worldwide':GLOBAL :!: :!: I see TT is on Twitter but you must be far too busy with everyone else to tweet much, if at all :!:

BUT I see the petition is almost FULL :!: Might it be an idea to set up a 'fresh one', however, that is done :?: :!: How 'heart-breaking' this all is :( :( :!: :!:
Claire Manigrasso (Madtortlady)! Been keeping Med. spur-thigheds since 30 April 1960. Never ever, sold any! Due to unforeseen circumstances, sadly needing to rehome some of my 'family'!
TORTOISES ARE STILL 'PETS FOR LIFE & BEYOND'!
